Programs
During my tenure at the Wayne County Historical Museum I also helped develop and run non-educational programs to entice visitors to come into the museum. Many of these events were huge fundraisers for the museum
Haunted Museum
Haunted Museum is a long-running event at the Wayne County Historical Museum and one of its most popular yearly events. This is a spooky not too scary family friendly event. The whole museum is decorated and we have "scarers" dispersed around the museum. Each child receives a goodie bag that includes candy, toys, and crafts.
Murder Mystery
I developed a 1920s themed murder mystery that incorporated real life Richmond residents such as Julia Meek-Gaar, the Gennetts, and Ella Bond Johnson. Each character had their own background information, rumors, answers to questions that they could share with the guests of the evening. The Murder Mystery was created in a way that any one of the character could be the killer, so the museum can use this model over and over again. We ran this program twice while I worked at the Wayne County Historical Museum and both time tickets sold out!
