Exhibits

I have been lucky to be able to experience many areas of museum studies throughout my tenure in the museum world. I have worked and interned with many small museum where you have to be able to wear many hats in order to ensure the collections are stored, taken care of, exhibited, and interpreted in the best way.

Racing Signature Exhibit

As an intern at the Wayne County Historical Museum, I assisted with de-installing model trains and tractors to make room for the 2019 Signature Exhibit: Racing in Wayne County. I also assisted in installing pieces of this exhibit before its opening in June 2019.

Gennett Signature Exhibit

As a contributor to the Gennet Signature Exhibit, I played a key role in the graphic design and installation/de-installation of various exhibits, ensuring that each display effectively communicated the message. My efforts included collaborating with the team to create visually engaging materials, educational programming for our public programming, and managing the Eventbrite and the seating charts for the Signature Dinner. I also reached out and found live musicians for both the Signature Dinner and the Public opening of the Gennett Opening Event. Through this project, I aimed to enhance the educational experience for visitors while showcasing the unique aspects of the classic Gennett logo.

Officer Seara Burton Legacy Exhibit

On August 10th, 2022, K-9 Officer Seara Burton was shot in the line of duty during a traffic stop. Her K-9 partner indicated that there was a presence of narcotics, and when the officer at the scene began to search, the man pulled out a concealed firearm and fired at the officer, striking Officer Burton in the head. Sadly, despite the best medical efforts, Officer Burton succumbed to her wounds on September 18th, 2022. Her final heroic act was to donate her organs.  After the shooting, the City of Richmond parked Seara Burton's Squad car outside the municipal building, where the whole community came together, placing items in and around her car as a vigil for Officer Burton and her family. After her death, the family and the Mayor of Richmond reached out to the Wayne County Historical Museum, hoping that the museum would take all the items left at the vigil, including her squad car, and make an exhibit. The museum happily agreed and began working on creating the perfect space for and permanent exhibit celebrating Seara's Legacy.

I was the graphic designer for the labels for this exhibit, which was especially special to the Wayne County and Richmond Communities. I was responsible for creating visually appealing promotional materials that captured the essence of the occasion. In addition, I took charge of the installation, ensuring that the flower arrangements were beautifully arranged and aligned with the overall aesthetic, enhancing the ambiance for all attendees.

First Responders Signature Exhibit

The 2024 Signature Exhibit focused on First Responders in Wayne County, a perfect pairing with the Seara Burton Memorial Exhibit. I assisted in cleaning cases, collecting objects for the exhibit, and building multiple exhibits throughout the museum that focused on the good old days and women as first responders. I also assisted with the graphic design of this signature exhibition.
